Latherhog is an Instagram account and Youtube channel that showcases Jon “exploring the world of shaving products, fragrance & and more from men’s grooming”. We’ve enjoyed following him on Instagram, and knew he would be the perfect addition to our first round of our Influencer Program.
We sent him an order of Charcoal Shaving Cream and asked that he share an honest review, so you can get an idea of what this unique shaving cream is all about. Read on for Jon’s full review!
“I've used it in two shaves thus far and can say that the cream provided a drama-free shave. It easily whipped up a fairly dense lather with moderate slickness and cushion. The activated charcoal powder lends the cream a unique silvery grey color, and charcoal has been popping up in grooming products for quite some time now.”
“Some supposed benefits includes cleansing, protection from bacteria, and even acne prevention, but I'll need more time with the product before I can vouch for any of that. I will say that I like the unique color of the cream.”

“Scent on the cream is a sweet, woody, masculine fragrance with notes of cedarwood, sandalwood, benzoin, nagarmotha, patchouli and vanilla. Scent strength is on the lighter side of medium, it's very easy to like and doesn't linger too long after the shave, so it will not interfere with whatever fragrance later.“
Our Charcoal fragrance is made with the perfect blend of Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Benzoin, Nagarmotha, Patchouli, and Vanilla essential oils to create a masculine scent – you’ll have to try it for yourself and see what you think!
“The postshave is probably the weakest attribute of this cream: while not overly drying, you will want to follow up with a postshave product.”
This is due to the activated charcoal – since it works to pull oil from your skin, it will feel a lot dryer than your “normal” skin.
